When we arrived at our hotel they upgraded us to a suite for no extra charge.

Here are some pictures of the outside of the hotel where we stayed.  Our first day was cloudy, rainy, and cold and we were caught in a hailstorm!  People who lived there said cloudy days are extremely rare.

I stood out in front of the hotel and took some pictures of the area, just so you can see what is around.  They have some leafy trees, but it never gets cold enough here for them to lose their leaves - no autumn!

On Sunday we had a much nicer day.  It was partly sunny and we walked outside with no jackets.  We went downtown to see an exhibit of Norman Rockwell paintings.  It was quite an honor to see the original works, and I have a whole new appreciation for the man and his paintings.  Here are some pictures I took in the parking lot of the art museum.  We are fascinated by all the palm trees.

After the art museum, we drove into the heart of downtown to see how it is.  It is not scary or dirty
like downtown Chicago, which I never want to go near.  I just snapped some pictures of the area when we
stopped at traffic lights, we didn't want to take the time to stop.  We stopped at McDonald's for something to drink.

After we left downtown we went north and then didn't quite know where we were.  I saw some hills north of town and decided I had to take pictures, we don't have these in Chicago.  I don't know how far away these are or how tall.  Afterward we drove to Scottsdale and ate in a huge shopping mall.  When I was sitting at one traffic light, I rolled down the window and took a picuture of the landscaping at the side of the road.  Everything is so different out there!

Here's another example of how different it is out there.  Is this a typical Phoenix neighborhood??  Look at all those weird plants!

Our last day there was partly cloudy but really nice.  We never wore our jackets until after the sun went down.  I went for a walk at 10:30 at night and it was 57 degrees.

We spent the day with a realtor looking at almost new homes and then looked at some new homes.  Below are pictures of a couple of models we really liked.  I am also including a picture of our last Phoenix sunset.

The very last day we were there I took some pictures of the area as I was putting our luggage into the rental car.

We loved Phoenix so much, WE HAVE DECIDED TO MOVE THERE!

Here are some pictures of downtown Phoenix from our second trip.  We were going down to the Home & Garden Show at the Phoenix Civic Plaza.  Anyway, I was very impressed with this area.  They had an entire complex of exhibition halls, outdoor party areas, museums, and the symphony hall all connected so pedestrians, bicyclists, and roller bladers can get around without dealing with traffic. In the Chicago area when they have nice outdoor areas setup they are all covered with snow in the winter and it's too cold for anyone to venture outside.  As I took these pictures in March of 2001, Boston was being buried in three feet of snow!
