I first met this mug a long, long time ago in a land far, far away. It was the summer of 1973 and I was working for the Cook County Forest Preserve District in Tinley Park, Illinois. Every weekday we would go out and clean up the picnic groves – picking up trash and emptying out garbage drums. On Sunday morning we would start work at 6:00 in the morning. We would dash out there and do a quick run through to get the worst of the disaster left by the Saturday party people so the Sunday party people would be walking into a nice picnic experience. The sun was just barely rising over the horizon and I was out there picking up trash when I discovered this nice mug. Finders keepers, losers weepers! 😉
My mother used this mug for years for her beer and now I use it for tea but I sometimes wonder.
- Whose mug was this?
- Why did they leave it out there in the picnic grove?
- Did they come back looking for it?
- Do they ever think of their lost mug?
- As this was nearly 44 years ago, are they even still alive? 😮
By the way, I am typing this from a Quality Inn in Payson, Utah. Pam and I are here for a Young Living conference covering how essential oils and other products can enhance the lives and health of animals.
