So…..let’s see…..it all started I think in the beginning of March.
The government said there was a deadly virus moving across the world and we all had to stay indoors. There was a public outcry and people said it was unfair. (Please note that Sweden did not impose a lock down on residents unlike the United States and most of Europe.)
Millions of people lost their jobs as businesses halted operations, laid off workers, and mass panic ensued. The government spent billions of dollars trying to help the economy and battle the pandemic but the government was already beyond broke so where did that money come from? Is this more money “borrowed” from the Social Security and Medicare funds? Many small businesses did not survive.
Then the government said we have flattened the curve and it was time to re-open businesses. There was a public outcry and people said it was too soon.
Then when the restaurants, stores, and other businesses had just opened, George Floyd died while being detained by police. There was a public outcry and people broke into businesses, looted, and set everything on fire. Many businesses closed, some permanently.
Now they are saying the virus is spreading too fast and we might need to close everything down again.
In the meantime, across the nation cities are talking about abolishing their police departments due to police brutality. Truckers have stated they will not take the risk of delivering any loads to an area not protected by police so what will this mean for businesses in those areas? Many police officers are leaving the force as the general public is viewing them as the enemy.
I almost forgot that a section of downtown Seattle has been taken over by residents who are stating they do not need police.
Keep in mind that 2020 is not even half over at this point. I shudder to think what else 2020 might have in store for us.
I was dreading the year 2020 because I was going to turn 65 years old and it is a milestone year for me…….I had no idea how many new milestones we would truly be facing! 🙁
